Royal Victory Thoroughbreds Today
The latest updates from your friends at Royal Victory Thoroughbreds Racing Partnerships.

Hello Royal Victory Thoroughbreds Partners and Racing Enthusiasts,
The 2025 Triple Crown Series recently concluded at Saratoga as Sovereignty convincingly won the Belmont Stakes in a carbon copy of the Kentucky Derby a few weeks earlier. After capturing two thirds of the crown, he established himself as the top 3-year-old in the country. In skipping the Preakness, Sovereignty sparked the debate regarding spacing of the Triple Crown races. Would he have won the Triple Crown if he ran in the Preakness? Changing such a long-standing tradition is never easy, but I expect the case for spacing out these races will ultimately prevail and recharge the excitement of the Triple Crown. Time will tell.
Last week, racing lost a legend in D. Wayne Lukas. While his record speaks for itself, I was admittedly not a fan in the 80s as he seemed to routinely couple several horses in a single race, destroying the betting odds. However, as I became more involved in racing, I learned to appreciate his legacy. In addition to his multiple Graded Stakes winners, meticulous barns and disciplined training methods, he may be most remembered for mentoring a stable of successful trainers, including Todd Pletcher, Kiaran McLaughlin and Dallas Stewart to name just a few. RIP Coach.
Switching gears, the most famous modern-day trainer today is the very recognizable Bob Baffert. Tied for the most Kentucky Derby wins and one of only two trainers to win the Triple Crown twice, his training accomplishments are impressive. I was on my way to Saratoga last month when I spotted the white-haired trainer at Detroit International. I introduced myself to Bob and his wife Jill Baffert and was pleasantly surprised by his affability and engaging down-to-earth personality. I also happened to have a copy of my novel, Heliacal Star, and used the opportunity to hand it Bob. Perhaps he’ll give the book a 5-star review!

In the Spotlight 🔦Flinny Tin Tin, 21
Flinny Tin Tin is a 4-year-old filly by Champion turf route specialist, FLINTSHIRE, and out of Proud Citizen mare, Run Tin Tin. To date, she has been one of the most successful Run Tin Tin foals with three wins coming on three different tracks (Penn National, Timonium and Laurel Park) as a three-year-old filly in 2024. She performs her best after breaking sharply and running on or near the lead. Her best efforts have come around two turns as all three of her wins have been routing at a mile or longer.
After a brief layup over the winter months, she returned to training at Laurel Park and has several recorded breezes during May and June, including a recent pair of 5/8 mile works. As she is once again ready to race, we’re hoping to see her return to her 3-year-old form at either Delaware Park or Colonial Downs this summer.
Her Equibase record can be found here
