Royal Victory Thoroughbreds - October Newsletter
News and updates from Royal Victory Thoroughbreds Racing Partnerships.

Hello Royal Victory Thoroughbreds Partners and Racing Enthusiasts,
Do you love winning more than you hate losing?
Your answer may depend on the race, the horse and your expectations. However, in my opinion, the euphoric joy of winning always overrides the bitter taste of losing. To scream at the top of your lungs as your horse thunders down the stretch, and feel victory just before they cross the wire is unbeatable. Your heart pounding so hard its practically popping out as your horse finishes in tandem with another, too close to call, is unbridled excitement.
This is why we participate and why we keep coming back, even after a tough loss or sound defeat. Losing can be brutal. It may get us angry. We may even conjure up creative excuses; the jockey screwed up, the horse broke poorly, it was an offtrack, he got dirt kicked in his face or the winning horse freaked. Such rationalization helps refuel our belief that next time will be different. Redemption will be ours and any lost optimism magically returns.
Winning becomes the ultimate reward for having the right horse in the right place at the right time. The subsequent Winner’s Circle photo memorializes the moment. Victory is the culmination of having an elite athlete, a great ride, superb training and a healthy dose racing luck, leading to spontaneous celebration! So, whenever you feel that tick of disappointment following a tough race, just remember that we’ll get ‘em next time. It will be Glorious and I’ll meet you in the Winner’s Circle!

The big crowd anticipates the next race
The racing action for Royal Victory Thoroughbreds is heating up on racetracks across America as five different horses started in August. Making their career debuts was Jess in Time (Emerald Downs) and Snowboarder (Colonial Downs). While neither horse fired a big shot in their first race, simply getting them to the starting gate as a 2-year-old is encouraging. Both will look to build on their experience and move forward in their next start. August also saw Chief Wild Eagle run yet another big race as he finished second for the second time this summer at Emerald Downs.
As August turns to September and summer to autumn, we’re looking ahead to even more action for Royal Victory Thoroughbreds. Native Empress has taken residence in Southern California to prep for her second career start while Jess in Time and Snowboarder are doing the same at Emerald Downs and Colonial Downs respectively. Kitty Tin Tin will take another swing at Fingerlakes and Flinny Tin Tin will look to find her zip once again. Following a nine-month layoff, Bang and a Boom is finally ready for his return and Louisville Liam will make his career debut at Laurel in September. Let’s hope for the best to all our horses in September.
🐴 RVT Horses - In Training 🏇
Kitty Tin Tin - Last race was at FINGERLAKES (8/27), 4th place. This follows a third place effort on July 30. She continues to train at Fingerlakes and will look to start again in September.
Chief Wild Eagle - Last race at EMERALD DOWNS (8/17), 2nd place. In four races at Emerald Downs this year, Chief Wild Eagle has finished 2nd twice and 3rd once. He’s been turned out in Yakima for some time off and could ship to Santa Anita for winter racing.
Flinny Tin Tin - Last race at TIMONIUM (8/22), 5th place. Since her last win in Oct ‘24, Flinny Tin Tin has just not looked like the same horse as last year. She’ll get another chance to rebound, likely at Penn National in September.
Native Empress - Last race at EMERALD DOWNS (7/26), 6th place. She has since shipped to Del Mar to prep for her second career start at Santa Anita in September or October. See below for more insights on Native Empress as this months featured Spotlight Horse.
Jess in Time - Last race at EMERALD DOWNS (8/10), 7th place. Although he raced greenly (think about a deer in the headlights) in his first race, he continues to train strong at Emerald Downs and will look to improve in his second career start.
Snowboarder - Last race at Colonial Downs (8/23), 7th place. Her first race was against some super tough maiden allowance company. She remains at Colonial Downs to train and will get her second career at either Colonial Downs or Laurel Park.
Bang and a Boom - Last race at SANTA ANITA (12/28), 2nd place. He’s been training regularly at Emerald Downs for a little more than two months and will likely get his first start of the year at Los Alamitos in California.

In the Spotlight 🔦Native Empress, 23
Native Empress was the first Royal Victory Thoroughbred two-year-old to start in 2025. A juvenile filly by Tonalist, Native Empress is a tall, leggy and long striding filly who appears built to route (one mile or longer). She is the fourth foal out of the mare, Hekawi (by Tribal Rule), who has produced two winners for a combined total of nine wins as Chief Wild Eagle has four and Princess Hekawi has five wins. Her third foal, Bang and a Boom, has finished 2nd twice and third once in his five career starts.
In her career debut, a 5/8 mile sprint, Native Empress finished sixth. Although she finished out of the money, it was useful race as she gained valuable racing experience and benefited from a fitness boost. During the race, she ran widest of eight around the turn, ducked inside entering the stretch, only to check and lose momentum. She actually found her best stride near the end of the race.
Since her debut in late July at Emerald Downs, she has moved to Del Mar, where she’s been training under the watchful eye of Tim McCanna. She’ll continue to train at Santa Anita in September where she’ll likely get her next start. Let’s hope she runs as good as she looks!!
Shares Available: Lucky Tin Tin
Lucky Tin Tin is both a Maryland-bred and Virginia Certified juvenile filly, currently in training at Laurel Park. The chestnut filly sports good size, a strong shoulder and balance. Currently in training, she has recorded several workouts at Laurel Park during June, including a pair of half mile works timed in 49.2 and 49.8. She is expected to make her career debut this summer at either Delaware or Colonial Downs and then transition to Laurel Park in the autumn months.
Lucky Tin Tin is by Madefromlucky, who qualifies her as Maryland bred by a Maryland stallion, although her stallion has since moved to Indiana where he’s been Indiana’s 3rd ranked stallion by earnings over the past two years.
She is the final foal of the now pensioned Run Tin Tin and the Tin Tin legacy. Shares in Lucky Tin Tin are currently available at 1,500 for a 10% share.
